Let’s Talk (#8) – Favourite Book Genres

Today I’m talking favourite book genres. I’m going to take you through my top three.

#1: Young Adult.

I’m trying really hard to pinpoint one exact reason why love Y/A but it’s a bit more complex than that. Characters in Y/A are at the starting point in their life where anything is possible, I think it’s the journey that these characters go on (no matter what their story is) that really appeals to me. Another reason is that as a teenager I always wanted to experience going to an American high school, for some reason I’m fascinated by them, so reading Y/A novels that are set there full fills that. I also like the huge verity of subjects that Y/A can cover.

#2: New Adult.

In particular, New Adult Romance. I do love a good romance novel and I usually find the best ones in this category. The romance in this category are usually a lot more intense (and let’s be honest steamy) than Y/A because the characters are that much older.

#3: Fantasy

It’s only been in the last year and a half that I have really gotten into fantasy. I’ve dabbled before but I never used to actively seek them out.  Now though I can’t get enough, I love emerging myself into a world that is vastly different to ours. Places where all types of magical things can happen.
