She’s proof that you can be a huge success without giving up your spirit of adventure or distinctive style. As she writes, “I have three pieces of advice I want you to remember: Don’t ever grow up. Don’t become a bore. Don’t let The Man get to you. OK? Cool. Then let’s do this.”
This is the first nonfiction book I’ve read this year and the first that I have reviewed. So I’m going to keep it simple and just tell you what I liked and what I didn’t like and then do a summary at the end.
I decided to read this because I binge watched all of GirlBoss on Netflix a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to see if the book was anything like it.
Review
The good:
- I liked Sophia’s insight to what it takes to run a business.
- The “Portrait of a #GIRLBOSS segments that were scattered at the end of some to the chapters.
- Sophia’s attitude to being a #GirlBoss
- There’s a chapter that looks at introverts that I thought was fascinating
The bad:
- Her attitude to feminism was a little strange
- Some of her choices have been pretty poor
- I don’t feel that if really offered that much advice about starting a company, it was more about what to do once you have one.
To summarize; this was an ok read it was entertaining enough and I did enjoy most of it.
