Sweet Obsession – J. Daniels

Blurb

From New York Times bestselling author, J. Daniels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE novel that does NOT need to be read in conjunction with any other book.

Everyone knows Brooke Wicks loves to have a good time.

She’s not interested in getting serious, settling down, or limiting herself to one man. So when she meets the sexy, irresistible Mason King, she sees another opportunity to let loose and go wild. But the gorgeous Aussie isn’t interested in just a quick fling with Brooke, and if she wants to get into his bed, she’s going to have to do it on his terms.

Loving fast and hard has always been Mason’s philosophy.

He doesn’t want a meaningless connection, he wants it all, and he wants it with Brooke. When she makes her one desire known—to hit it and quit it—Mason wages a plan to ensure Brooke keeps coming back for more. Or so he hopes.

Getting her attention was the easy part. Keeping it might be damn near impossible.

Sweet Obsession is where the Sweet Addiction series meets the Alabama Summer series.

Thoughts

So I read Sweet Addiction a few months back and didn’t really think much more about this series after that, anyway a got an email from BookBub a couple of weeks ago and this book was one of the free ones, so I thought “Hey why not”

Story/ Characters

This story is told from the first person from both Brooke and Mason’s perspectives. I really enjoyed the writing it was nice and easy to follow and kept me engaged.

The story itself was pretty good, I’m a huge sucker for slow burn romance and this book did not disappoint! In a nutshell, Brooke is looking for a quick one time thing with Mason but Mason wants more, he gets Brooke to agree to spend time getting to know one another before they have sex.

I liked both the main characters, I  thought Brookes characters development was good, she grew a fair amount from the start of the book to the end. I really liked how patient Mason was with Brooke. The only annoyance came at the end when Mason really overacted to something and caused unnecessary drama.

Hands down the best part of the book was Joey, who is one of Brookes room mates, this guy needs his own book, he’s just great!

Favorite Quote:

“Breathe, Joey. Keep your fabulous shit together. No mauling the customers. They pay you. You love them.”

Conclusion:

This was an enjoyable light read, nothing to shout about from the rooftops. It’s the perfect sort of book if you’re looking to kill a bit time.

My Rating:  3/5 🌟🌟🌟
