Today I shelved my 3rd DNF of the year! I’m impressed with myself that I have managed to keep my DNF list this low so far this year. I hate giving up on a book especially when I’ve paid for it.
Let’s have a look at the books that didn’t cut the mustard so to speak:
Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
I did actually write a little review about this one. My main beef with this book was that I did not enjoy the writing style or the world building. It felt very stark and depressing, it was a real shame because the synopsis had held so much promise for me.
Hate F*@k: Part One by Ainsley Booth
In all honesty, I can’t remember exactly why I didn’t finish this one. I think it had something to do with the main characters 🤷🏻♀️
Bad Teacher by Clarissa Wild
This is the one that stopped reading to day. My god, I don’t know where to start… honestly, it was all pretty awful. The characters were blah and pretty boring. Thomas was just gross, he made my skin crawl with all the rancid shit that was coming out of his mouth. I just found the whole thing crass and distasteful.
My main motivation for not finishing a book is, that I have a lot of books that I want to read, therefore if I’m not enjoying what I’m reading, then I’m not going to waste time by continuing with it. I usually try to get through at least 5/6 chapters before packing it in though just encase things pick up.
That’s me done.
Feel free to let me know about your DNFs in the comments.
Until Next Time 🤓
DNFs are hard. I hate to give up on a book, but also, there’s too many books and so little time! In high school English classes, I had a LOT of DNFs, but now that I am older and have a better sense of what I enjoy reading that happens a lot less. Except, now I’m challenging myself to read outside my regular reads and I suspect my DNF will go up quickly. I read The Boston Girl for book club, so I did finish it, but if it wasn’t for book club, it would have been a DNF for me as I just wasn’t interested in the writing style or story. Thankfully it was a quick read.

I’m trying to push myself to read more outside of my comfort zone so I suspect mine lost increase too! I’ll try my best to keep going though.
