Synopsis

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Red Rising thrilled readers and announced the presence of a talented new author. Golden Son changed the game and took the story of Darrow to the next level. Now comes the exhilarating conclusion to the Red Rising Trilogy: Morning Star.

Darrow would have lived in peace, but his enemies brought him war. The Gold overlords demanded his obedience, hanged his wife, and enslaved his people. But Darrow is determined to fight back. Risking everything to transform himself and breach Gold society, Darrow has battled to survive the cutthroat rivalries that breed Society’s mightiest warriors, climbed the ranks, and waited patiently to unleash the revolution that will tear the hierarchy apart from within.

Finally, the time has come.

But devotion to honor and hunger for vengeance run deep on both sides. Darrow and his comrades-in-arms face powerful enemies without scruple or mercy. Among them are some Darrow once considered friends. To win, Darrow will need to inspire those shackled in darkness to break their chains, unmake the world their cruel masters have built, and claim a destiny too long denied—and too glorious to surrender.

Review

One word: Perfection. That’s what this book was. Without a doubt, this is one of the best books I’ve read in a very long time. It took me just over a week to finish just because I wanted to saviour and because I was a little bit terrified about how it was going to end, but I shouldn’t haven’t worried because it was just brilliant.

I really enjoyed how this played out, the twists and turns and expectedness were fresh and exhilarating. I adore Darrow, he has fast become one of my favorite characters. The things that he has suffered makes my heart break for him. There were so many moments where I literally had my heart in my mouth. This story wrecked me emotionally seriously I can’t even tell you! There are moments towards the end where I swear my heart almost stopped!

“I cannot be afraid. I’ve spent too long being afraid. Too long being diminished by loss. Too long being everything except what I need to be. And whether I am the Reaper, or whether it’s just another mask, it’s one I must wear, not just for them, but for myself.”

At its core, this is a story is about courage, resilience, and transformation. Literal transformation for Darrow. He has overcome so much in such a short amount of time, he’s friends have become enemies and his enemies have become friends.

“He nodded, softly. “Thank you … brother.” And there, on a citadel landing platform in what was once the heart of Gold power, Cassius au Bellona and I shake hands and say farewell, almost six years to the day since we first met.”

Conclusion

I would recommend, no I do recommend this book, in fact, the whole series. If you are a fan of science fiction and you haven’t read this book I suggest you get on it stat! I promise you won’t regret it!

Also Iron Gold is out January 2018, I’ve already pre – ordered my copy and you can get yours here
