Synopsis

Tonya discovers she’s pregnant a month after breaking up with her high school boyfriend, Jake. She can’t decide whether to tell Jake she’s pregnant when he sees her at the mall with a maternity bag.

Tonya struggles to adjust to working, attending the local community college, and pushing off Jake’s advances to get back together. When she’s paired with the good looking guy from her Art class, Reaf, she has to battle the confusing emotions swirling through her brain and heart.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked the blurb for this, I thought it had a lot of potentials but overall I didn’t end up liking it too much. This was down to how it was written. Most of the time it felt like I was reading about a 15-year-old girl. Tonya’s lack of maturity was annoying if this book had been a young adult novel I would have understood this but the fact is most the time, I felt like she was too immature to be even having sex let alone be having a child. The writing wasn’t the best, lots of the same adjectives were used which got old really fast.

Jake was the typical jock and his behavior so predictable cliché.

Ok so it wasn’t all bad, I did like how supportive her parents were, her Mom was just fantastic and handled the situation really well. I also really liked Reaf I would have liked to have learned more about him, we do meet his family but I felt his character was a little underdeveloped.

I also enjoyed the actual storyline I just wish there had been more depth.

The Bottom Line:

If It came down to it, I’d probably recommend this book to teens, I think that that age category may have enjoyed this story more than me. That’s it really.
