My Thoughts
Tom Hardy’s Venom is a very different Venom to the one we saw in Spiderman 3, I mean this in a good way. When I first saw the trailers for this movie it seemed a little terrifying, Venom is a scary looking dude.
The first half of this movie is all about the build-up, we learn about Eddie’s life as a reporter, he’s engaged to his lawyer girlfriend, life is pretty good, that is until he is sent to interview Life Foundation founder Carlton Drake. After the interview goes wrong, Eddie loses it all, his job, his fiance etc fast forward 6 months and Eddie is still out of work and living in a crappy apartment when he is approached by a Scientist who works with Drake, who tells him that the latest experiments that Drake is carrying are killing a lot of people. Eddie goes back to the lab with Dora (Scientist) and it’s here merges with Venom.
The last half of this movie its where it really starts to get good. The relationship between Eddie and Venom is pretty entertaining. There’s a really awesome chase scene not long after they have merged that I really liked. As the movie goes along Venom becomes less scary and more hero like- I think anti-hero is probably the best way to describe it.
Overall I enjoyed this movie more then I thought I was going too.
