Plot

Pitch Perfect Movie Poster

College student Beca (Anna Kendrick) knows she does not want to be part of a clique, but that’s exactly where she finds herself after arriving at her new school. Thrust in among mean gals, nice gals and just plain weird gals, Beca finds that the only thing they have in common is how well they sing together. She takes the women of the group out of their comfort zone of traditional arrangements and into a world of amazing harmonic combinations in a fight to the top of college music competitions.

My Thoughts

I love a good music-themed movie and this one is one of my all time favs. I’ve lost count of how many times I have watched this movie but it never gets old, well at least for me. The movie follows Beca, a reluctant college student, who really just wants to move to LA to make music. Beca’s dad makes a deal that if she gives a college a real try and joins in he will fund for her move to LA to follow her dreams, this prompts Beca to join an acapella group  The Barden Bellas.

One of my favorite parts of this film is the Riff off.  This is where you see a slightly different side of The Bella’s and the potential of what they could become. Beca’s rendition of No Diggity is pretty cool.

The other acapella group, who the Bellas main rivals are the Treblemakers. Beca’s love interest (Jesse) is part of this group. Beca and Jesse have fairly torrid time, I do feel like she is mostly mean to him for most of the movie. He’s nice enough and I think he just wants to be there for her and she’s a little bitchy in the way she treats him from time to time.

I really love the music used in this film, its a nice blend of old and new, I found a million playlists on Spotify so it’s worth checking out if you love the music as much as I do.

I also like the friendships that develope between the Bella’s its a long hard battle for them to gel but its really lovely in the end when they are supporting each other, it really adds a bang to their final performance which is, of course, the best part of the movie.

I think I’ve mentioned everything I wanted to. If you haven’t watched this film and you’re looking for something a little light-hearted and fun then give this ago, here’s a trailer to give you a little taster.
