Cinema Sunday: Love, Simon

Hello and welcome to Cinema Sunday, this is a new weekly meme that I will be participating in. Cinema Sunday was created by Jessica over at Escape 2 Fiction.

Everyone deserves a great love story, but for 17-year-old Simon Spier, it’s a little more complicated. He hasn’t told his family or friends that he’s gay, and he doesn’t know the identity of the anonymous classmate that he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.

My Thoughts

I didn’t really have any expectations going into this movie, I was kinda bored one evening last week and I happened upon this whilst browsing Sky. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

The story was engaging and found myself really feeling for Simon. I liked the mystery boy he was talking to online and it was intriguing trying to figure out who this person was, which I didn’t manage to do so that was good too.

I thought Simons journey was really relatable, there are a lot of people out there who are going through the same thing and I think the film did a good job of portraying that. I really love the ending, it really made it for me and I did find myself welling up a wee bit.

I would definitely recommend this movie.
