Love is blind, but fate sees everything
The Girl in the Painting, an all-new standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author Max Monroe, is available now!
Ansel Bray, an artist known around the world for his tragic hiatus from the canvas.
Ansel Bray, a broody, handsome man not known by me, at all.
Long dark hair, blue eyes, and dimpled cheeks. I’ve never met her, but her image is imprinted in my mind. An angel muse who inspires me to paint again.
There is something about him. Something that spurs a need to be as close to him as possible. A need to find out why.
There is something about her. Something that draws me in. Something that urges me to find out what her presence means.
Why does the girl in his painting look so much like me?
Who is this girl, and why can I see her so vividly?
I shouldn’t fall in love with him.
I shouldn’t fall in love at all.
But fate plays her hand.
But fate has other plans.
The lines of my life will blur.
The needs of my heart will change.
What a beautiful mess we’ve made.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
After Ansel loses his sight life is dark and almost unbearable. A miraculous surgery gives him is sight and suddenly his mind is filled with images of a beautiful young woman who he doesn’t even know.
Indy is going through the motions of life, existing but not really living until she spots a portrait of what seems to be of herself at an art exhibition and she decides that she needs to meet the artist.
This was a surprisingly good story, I hadn’t really given it much thought before I started. The build-up to reveal of the big secret was done really well, I only worked out what it was because I’ve read something a little similar, it didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the book.
Ansel is your typical moody artist who has been dealt a shitty hand in life. The thing that liked about home though was that he put out that exterior image but really he is a big softie. Indy well you could feel the emptiness she was feeling, her unhappiness jumped out of the page and you could really see the change in her and how she gradually becomes more alive as the story went on.
I really liked this one, it’s had a different sort of twist on the normal romance stories you find which made a refreshing change.
My rating: 4/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟
