[#12] Thursday Chatter: Movie Spotlight – The Parent Trap (1998)

Thursday Chatter is a weekly meme hosted by me! Where I chat about lots of different things, you can find a list of upcoming topics here.

I racked my brain for ages trying to come up with a movie for this week’s post and then I remembered: The Parent Trap (1998). I watched this movie so much with my siblings growing up, it was one of our go-to movies – I recently rewatched and it’s still so good, and just as great as I remember it.

Identical twins Annie and Hallie, separated at birth and each raised by one of their biological parents, later discover each other for the first time at summer camp and make a plan to bring their wayward parents back together.

PG | | Adventure, Comedy, Drama | 11 December 1998 (UK)

Things that I love about this movie:

  • I’m going to right ahead and say it: Lindsey Lohan – she really did a fantastic job in this movie, I loved her acting and I think she did a great job playing both Annie and Hallie.
  • The comedy,  there are so many hilarious moments, I particularly enjoyed how much the twins tortured Meredith on the camping trip.
  • The filming locations – love the Napa scenes.
  • Maggie Wheeler – who plays Janice from Friends

Annie: That girl is without a doubt, the lowest, most awful creature to ever walk the planet!
Hallie: [watching from outside, impersonating Elvis] Thank you, thank you very much.

Annie: Mum. Daddy’s getting married.
[Elizabeth falls to the couch, stunned]
Annie: To Cruella de Vil. She’s awful, Mum. We can’t let him go through with it.

Annie: [Hallie just finished cutting Annie’s hair to look like hers] This is so scary.
Hallie: Honey, you never looked better.

I really hope you enjoyed this week’s post as much as I enjoyed making it.
