[Book Review] The Dare by Elle Kennedy

Summary

College was supposed to be my chance to get over my ugly-duckling complex and spread my wings. Instead, I wound up in a sorority full of mean girls. I already have a hard time fitting in, so when my Kappa Chi sisters issue the challenge, I can’t say no.

The dare: seduce the hottest new hockey player in the junior class.

Conor Edwards is a regular at Greek Row parties…and in Greek Row sorority beds. He’s the one you fall for before you learn that guys like him don’t give girls like me a second glance. Except Mr. Popular throws me for a loop—rather than laughing in my face, he does me a solid by letting me take him upstairs to pretend we’re getting busy.

Even crazier, now he wants to keep pretending. Turns out Conor loves games, and he thinks it’s fun to pull the wool over my frenemies’ eyes.

But resisting his easy charm and surfer-boy hotness is darn near impossible. Though I’m realizing there’s much more to Conor’s story than his fan club can see.

And the longer this silly ruse goes on, the greater the danger of it all blowing up in my face.

Review

The Briar U series just keeps getting better!

I loved Taylor and Coner. They were so funny together and for 2 people who are fairly different they worked really well. If you have read the other books in this series you will remeber Coner from The Play and it was really great to get to know him better. He has much more going on that what appears and insecurities that you maybe wouldn’t nessecearly associate with a Hocky player.

Taylor has all the regular girl hang ups, insecure with her body because she doesn’t have the text book skinny girl look. I think how Coner was with her was lovely – always reassuring and telling her she was beautiful, even though she didn’t believe him half the time.

There are lots of funny moments in this book – all the guys on the Hockey team are hilarious, one particular scene pops to mind, where they are all shopping in the Mall to help Taylor pick out a new outfit, she comes out of the dressing room and all the guys are randomly trying on tux’s! Just Brilliant! I loved that we got more of Hunter – he is my favourite from this whole series.

In a nutshell…

A delightfully fun read that is checks all the romance boxes.

My Rating: 4/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟
