[Book Review] Boyfriend by Sarina Bowen

Summary

The dreamiest player on the Moo U hockey team hangs a flyer on the bulletin board, and I am spellbound:

Rent a boyfriend for the holiday. For $25, I will be your Thanksgiving date. I will talk hockey with your dad. I will bring your mother flowers. I will be polite, and wear a nicely ironed shirt…

Everyone knows it’s a bad idea to introduce your long-time crush to your messed-up family. But I really do need a date for Thanksgiving, even if I’m not willing to say why. So I tear his phone number off of that flyer… and accidentally entangle our star defenseman in a ruse that neither of us can easily unwind.

Who knew that Weston’s family was even nuttier than mine? He needs a date, too, for the most uncomfortable holiday engagement party ever thrown.

There will be hors d’oeuvre. There will be faked PDA. And there will be pro-level awkwardness…

Review

When Sarina does College romance I know its going be good and this book was no exception. It has everything, a female lead you can’t help but love, a dreamy love interest and splash of college drama.

Abbie has been admiring Western from a far whilst working her shift at the biscuit for ages, so when she overhears him posting his annual Rent a boyfriend notice for Thanksgiving she sees this as the perfect opportunity to get to know him better. For Western getting away from his family drama at Thanksgiving is a no brainer, when he discovers his date for Thanksgiving is the cute waitress from the Biscuit he is pleasantly surprised.

Oh the family drama these two both have going on… wow. I loved it although I’m not sure who I feel more sorry, no I do, it’s definitely Abbie, girl has been through the wringer.  I thought the characters were fully fleshed out and so you got a real feel and understanding of where they were both coming from. The relationship development as perfect! No insta-love in sight and plenty of slow burn, which is just how I like my romance.

Overall this was a great read, and perfect addition the Moo U series.

My Rating: 4/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟
